Movie Stars visit JREC
On Saturday, January 13th, JREC had some special visitors.
Blanco is one of the most well-known animal stars ever to grace the movie
screen. Blanco, a pure white Andalusian, is best known for his role as
wizard of Gandalf the White's legendary horse Shadowfax in the Lord of the Rings
movies. He has also been featured in the well-known Hercules TV
Blanco is owned and trained by Cynthia Royal. Together Cynthia and Blanco
displayed their special talents with liberty training. Blanco performs
many tasks with only voice, visual or physical cues. Cynthia and Blanco
are travelling to Las Vegas where they will run a 2-year performance show.
Also at JREC on this date was Diablo, an American Quarter Horse. Diablo
has been in over 35 films, and is best known as a "fall" horse. Diablo
also is trained to rear up, sit, bow, smile, and say yes on command.
Diablo has been owned and trained since he was 6 months old (Diablo is now 18
years old) by Doug loan. Doug is a film veteran, head animal wrangler,
stunt man, and horse trainer.. Diablo and Doug displayed their special
bond by performing many of their special skills. Doug also spent time with
Heathcliff, answering questions with the JREC faithful.
